Grab Bag vol. 18
Things I found interesting lately, what I’ve been up to, and whatever else comes to mind.
Hot, hot summertime. It’s time to run! We’ve got some training to do, so that’s where I’ll be. Maybe I’ll even have some adventures worth talking about.
Related to summertime running, few weeks ago I wrote this, which isn’t really saying anything. It’s more of a mood piece.
AFTER I wrote that, I quit a 50K halfway through because of a 10am thunderstorm in the general vicinity. And a wrong turn. And a stomach that wouldn’t settle. But mostly the dark grey clouds. I sat on a bench on the side of the trail where a nice woman had settled, having biked into the state park to spectate. I sat there as I made up my mind to quit.
So now I’m trying to be kinder to myself. I’ve spent too much time thinking of what I can’t do. Maybe I need to think more about what I can do.
What I CAN do is jaunt around the high alpine, even if it’s just a short little adventure. It’s still beautiful. My lung still burn, my legs still carry my body up and over the twisting trail. It is okay to be here.
Not running things
One of my closest friends got married last month! She wore a colorful blue dress, and we wore white. (Christina and I thanked everyone for attending our wedding).
I went to the Improvised Shakespeare Company which is touring at DCPA for the next couple of months. I haven’t laughed that hard in a very long time.
My friends hosted a summer park party which included an egg drop competition. We did not win.
Until next time!
